Bor and O’Keeffe win USATF 10 Mile Championships with Record Times.


St. Paul, Minn. – October 2, 2022 –
 Yuya Yoshida of Japan and Jessica Watychowicz of Colorado Springs won today’s 40th Anniversary Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. Yoshida became the event’s first Japanese winner, running 2:11:28 under sunny skies and race temperatures in the 60s. Watychowicz clocked 2:33:09 for her victory.

 

6495 runners finished the 26.2 mile race from downtown Minneapolis to the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul, which was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic and run at half capacity last year for safety.

In the USATF 10 Mile Championships held in conjunction with the Medtronic TC 10 Mile earlier in the morning, Hillary Bor of Colorado Springs broke the men’s 10 mile course record in 46:06. Fiona O’Keeffe of Concord, Mass. set the women’s event mark in 51:42.

 

Bor and O’Keeffe each won $12,000 for their titles, with O’Keeffe netting an additional $10,000 for winning the Equalizer Bonus, where the women were given a 5 minute, 53 second head start in the race.
