BOSTON—In anticipation of the 126th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 18, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced the Grand Marshal, Official Starters, and festivities in celebration of the world’s oldest annually run marathon.
Boston Pride To Serve As Ceremonial Grand Marshals
Boston Pride team captains Jillian Dempsey (Winthrop, MA) and Mary Parker (Milton, MA) will serve as honorary Grand Marshals for the 126th Boston Marathon, leading 30,000 participants from start to finish. Dempsey and Parker helped the Boston Pride claim their second straight Isobel Cup Championship as part of the Premier Hockey Federation.
Dempsey and Parker will be driven to the finish in the all-new 2022 Honda Passport 5-passenger SUV, where they will join the rest of their Pride teammates on Boylston Street.
The Boston Marathon will also feature a flyover of two C-130s out of the Bradley Air National Guard Base. The aircrafts will fly over the course beginning with the Hopkinton start line at approximately 9:58 a.m. ET and finishing over the Boylston Street finish line at approximately 10:03 a.m. ET.

Boston Marathon Fan Fest presented by Amazon in Copley Square Park will be the place to soak in the race week atmosphere, enjoy live entertainment, and listen to star-studded panels featuring champions, Olympic medalists, running icons and more. Fan Fest is free and open to the public, and features programming on Friday, April 15 (12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.); Saturday, April 16 (10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.); and Sunday, April 17 (10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.).

All-New Sam Adams Run Pub to Debut on Dartmouth Street
New for 2022, participants and their families are encouraged to relax and unwind at the Sam Adams Run Pub just steps from the Boston Marathon finish line. Located at the corner of Dartmouth Street and Boylston Street near Copley Square Park, the Boston Marathon Run Pub will be a marathon-themed beer hall featuring Samuel Adams 26.2 Brew. The Run Pub will be open on Friday, April 15 from 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 16 from 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
Dave McGillivray To Complete 50th Consecutive Boston Marathon
After directing the 126th Boston Marathon, race director Dave McGillivray will head to Hopkinton to run his 50th consecutive Boston Marathon. On Patriots’ Day, McGillivray will complete the Hopkinton to Boston route in the late afternoon and evening.

Nearly 10,000 participants will take part in the first race of the B.A.A. Distance Medley, racing 3.1 miles through Back Bay. B.A.A. 5K registration opened to the general public in February. A stellar professional field features top American and international athletes. Special Olympics Massachusetts, the exclusive fundraising partner of the B.A.A. 5K, will field a team of 100 athletes raising funds to provide opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to compete and train in an inclusive and supportive environment. A media area will be located on Boston Common.
