Denver, CO – The Denver Colfax Marathon is proud to continue its annual tradition of giving back to charities within the Colorado community. This year, the marathon helped contribute more than ever before to local nonprofits through its charity partners program.

“Our charity partners program has a direct impact on our local community,” said Andrea Dowdy, CEO of the Denver Colfax Marathon. “The marathon’s mission is to give back and help those around us succeed. This program gives Colorado nonprofits a chance to spread their positive message within our city and state.”

The marathon’s charity partners program, sponsored by Walker and Dunlop, gives nonprofits a free platform to raise money and awareness for their cause throughout the Denver Colfax Marathon race season. The charity keeps 100% of the money they raise. This year, the marathon partnered with over 135 different nonprofits.

Here’s how it works: participating runners can raise money for a charity through the platform and marathon relay runners can win even more money for a charity from the program’s prize pool. The Denver Colfax Marathon’s relay is now the largest in the U.S. and has a yearly prize pool that marathon relay teams can win for schools and nonprofits.

In its 2024 race weekend, the marathon saw 20% of its participants running to support a charity, and the charity partners program yielded over $750,000 to Colorado nonprofits. The Denver Colfax Marathon is a nonprofit itself (501c3) and has a tradition of giving back every year.

“Cigna Healthcare is proud to sponsor another successful year of the Denver Colfax Marathon,” said Brett Winingham, Market Growth Leader for Cigna Healthcare Mountain States. “We believe in the importance of improving the health and vitality of people and communities, and the marathon is the perfect opportunity foster and celebrate a healthier community.”

The Denver Colfax Marathon is the city’s only marathon and one of the top 25 marathon weekends in the country. The 2025 Denver Colfax Marathon race weekend will take place May 16-18, 2025. Registration will begin in August.

Close to 25,000 runners participated in the 2024 Denver Colfax Marathon race weekend in May, making it the largest running event in Denver’s history. To learn more about the Denver Colfax Marathon Charity Partners Program, please visit www.runcolfax.org.
