Twin Cities to Receive National Runner-Friendly Community Designation

St. Paul, Minn. – May 31, 2024 – Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon organizers Twin Cities In Motion will lead the area’s Global Running Day activities Wednesday, June 5, from the nonprofit’s Twin Cities Motion Center headquarters in St. Paul.

In partnership with Run Minnesota, the oldest running organization in the state, Twin Cities In Motion will celebrate with an all-day run-a-thon on a 5K (3.1 mile) loop on the Shepherd Road and Mississippi River pedestrian paths near the Motion Center (355 Randolph Ave., Suite 200, St. Paul, MN  55102).

The day will culminate with Minneapolis and St. Paul receiving the Road Runners Club of America “Runner Friendly Community Designation.”

Area running clubs and running-oriented nonprofits are planning to participate in the event throughout the day. The community’s runners and walkers are invited to join the run-a-thon at any time and for any amount of running or walking between 7:30 a.m. through 7:30 p.m. All participants finishing the 5K loop will be entered into drawings for prizes.

At 6 p.m. that evening, representatives of the Road Runners Club of America will present local officials and local running leaders with its “Runner Friendly Community Designation.” The presentation at the Motion Center will be followed by the final lap of the run-a-thon.
