Two Charlotte, NC-based powerhouses join forces for long-term community impact
Charlotte, NC — May 1, 2024 — Around the Crown 10K Together with Truist (ATC10K), Charlotte’s premiere 10K road running race dedicated to moving Charlotte forward and North Carolina’s largest 10K road race, announces its pivotal multi-year partnership with Truist Bank (Truist) who will serve as the event’s Presenting Sponsor through 2026. With four years of steadfast backing, Truist continues its unwavering support by amplifying activations that foster inclusivity and enthusiasm within the running community.
Truist, a purpose-driven financial services company headquartered in Charlotte since 2019, joins ATC10K to implement its vision of inspiring and building better lives and communities. The partnership ensures programs such as Truist Training Tours and Pay What You Can presented by Truist and other race day activations are possible. These programs support the event’s overarching mission of moving Charlotte forward and making the start line resemble the community in which the race is held.
“Running has a way of bringing people together with a common purpose – to create and chase personal goals that focus on an individual’s mental and physical well-being,” said Sherry Graziano, head of digital, client experience, and marketing for Truist. “Truist is excited to extend our partnership with Around the Crown 10K and the community it creates by providing a unique course that highlights Charlotte as the backdrop coupled with engaging post-race festivities. It has proven to be a destination race that runners look forward to every year.”
Both Truist Training Tours and Pay What You Can showcase how Truist and ATC10K are invested in the local community and diversifying the starting line of the race. Truist Training Tours are a series of no-cost training runs designed to take runners on routes through lesser-run Charlotte neighborhoods, highlighting places of diversity and historical significance while telling the story of each neighborhood or community. The Pay What You Can program ensures anyone can participate in ATC10K without financial barriers by allowing the participant to literally pay what they can for their race entry fee. Truist will match donations made by participants to the Pay What You Can program up to $4,000 which helps to ensure more community members can utilize the program. Both brands hope to serve over 300 participants through Pay What You Can, 100 more runners than in 2023.
“Truist’s shared philosophy and mission make this partnership so dynamic and our collaboration embodies the true spirit of synergy in this city that we both get to call home,” shared Brian Mister, race director for Around the Crown 10K Together with Truist. “With Truist’s support, philanthropy, and reach in our region, we will be able to serve more individuals through our year-round programming and race day.”
