How close is close? HAL Sports found out at February’s iconic Scale the STRAT – Fight for Air Climb for the American Lung Association in Nevada when only 8/100ths of a second separated the world’s #1 and #2 climbers!
Only three climbers in its history have finished below seven minutes before; this year there were two! Soh Waing Ching (from Malaysia) is #1 and Ryoji Watanabe (from Japan) is #2.
Soh set a new record at 6:42.72 and Watanabe finished at 6:42.80!
HAL Sports has been involved since year two (2010) and is the preferred timing and event production company by the American Lung Association and Scale the STRAT. HAL Sports’ Chief HAL Officer, Lonnie Somers, decided to step up for clean air and entered the field himself this year.
“I can’t emphasize enough how instrumental Lonnie and the entire HAL Sports team has been to the success of the American Lung Association’s Scale the STRAT event,” said Shannon Proctor, executive director of the American Lung Association in Nevada. “From professional and accurate timing to logistics planning and event enhancements, HAL Sports is simply the best to work with.”
