Two athletes to individually compete for $2,500 each
Davenport, Iowa – Two athletes have been selected to be the Russell Beat the Elite competitors. They were selected from entries received by June 16, 2023. They will be given a head start based on their previous finishes. If they beat the first elite runner to the finish line, they will each receive $2,500 from this rebranded event’s sponsor, Russell Group. The Russell Group joined the Quad-City Times Bix7 in 2022 as a new platinum sponsor.
Our competitors will be available for interviews at 6:00 pm on June 29, at the start line of the Bix @ 6 training run, 4th and LeClaire Streets. Look for Race Director Michelle Juehring to connect with our athletes.
Our tagline Run with the Best will have new meaning this summer. Bix will serve as the USATF’s Men’s and Women’s American National 7-Mile Championships in 2023. This will be the 6th time in race history that the Quad Cities will host the championships. Walkers and runners alike will race the same streets as American Olympic hopefuls on our out-and-back course. With the summer Olympics in 2024, it’s very likely that the same runners we see in Davenport will be competing in the trials next year.
Total prize purse for the 7-mile race is $67,500. American elite runners will be competing for $50,000 in prize money. An additional $17,500 in prize money will be up for grabs through our Caesars Sportsbook Teams Competition, Premier Buick GMC Dealers First Responders & High School Challenge, and our Russell Beat the Elite race.
The 49th Quad-City Times Bix 7 race begins at 8:00am on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Online registration is open at www.Bix7.com. Register by midnight on July 13 before rates increase!
