World Championship places on offer for age group runners
The Abbott World Marathon Majors Global Run Club launched their bi-annual virtual Global Marathon today which will be open to runners all around the world from March 5 – April 23.
Following the success of the Fall 2022 edition, the race window covers the spring Majors – Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon and TCS London Marathon – to allow runners to ‘double-dip’ on their efforts. If you complete your virtual while running a Major or another qualifying event, you will earn world ranking points and be in contention for one of the 200 invites on offer for runners age 40+ for the 2024 AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships.
To successfully complete the Global Marathon, club members must connect a compatible device before running their 26.2miles so their performance synchronizes to the platform and appears on the leader board.
The Global Run Club is once again offering runners the chance to purchase a finisher medal online and collect at the AbbottWMM Expo booth in Tokyo, Boston or London. To take advantage of this cost-saving option, runners must order two weeks ahead of their chosen race week. Shipping is available for those who are running their virtual at home or at another in-person spring race.
The 2023 AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships will take place on October 8 as part of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. The location for the 2024 World Championships will be announced in due course.
