SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Dec. 4, 2022) – The Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series returned to the Lone Star State for the 14th edition of the biggest running fiesta as the Certified Piedmontese Beef Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series San Antonio took to the streets this weekend. The Certified Piedmontese Beef Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series San Antonio event weekend saw over 17,000 registered runners and featured 5K and 10K races on Saturday along with a half marathon and marathon on Sunday. During the Certified Piedmontese Beef Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series San Antonio Marathon, it was Lamech Mokono Mositi (Grand Prairie, Texas) coming home victorious for the men clocking a time of 2:36:38. Janessa Dunn (San Antonio, Texas)was the women’s winner with a final time of 2:56:08. In the Rock ‘n’ Roll Elite™ half marathon series took part at Certified Piedmontese Beef Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio with Dominic Korir (Pacific Palisades, Cali.) and Sarah Pagano (Brighton, Mass.) coming home victorious.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Elite half marathon series offered a shared $12,000 elite prize purse and Elite Beat Rankings (EBR) points to top three male and female finishers including: Dominic Korir taking top honors in the men’s race with a finishing time of 1:04:34 earning the win and taking home 50 EBR points. Collecting 44 EBR points and second place was Reid Buchanan (San Diego, Cali.) with a finishing time of 1:05:06 and Dennis Kipkosgei (Pacific Palisades, Cali.) followed in third place finishing at 1:06:15 and scoring 39 EBR points. Sarah Pagano (Brighton, Mass.) took the top spot in the women’s race earning 50 points with a finishing time of 1:14:48. Caren Jebet Maiyo ((Pacific Palisades, Cali.) followed Pagano in second for the women’s division with a finishing time of 1:16:59, earning 44 points, while Kirsten Lee (North Vancouver, B.C. Canada) rounded out the podium with a time of 1:17:10, earning 39 points. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Elite half marathon competition offers world-class runners the opportunity to showcase their talents in eight cities in North America, culminating with a grand finale at the 2023 edition of Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas. Certified Piedmontese Beef Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series San Antonio is a truly unique experience and featured a new course this year that took participants through Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston and showcased everything that earned San Antonio the name of Military City, USA®. The home of one of the largest populations of active duty military and veterans, the course featured over three miles inside the base before concluding in front of the UTSA Downtown campus.
Several local bands, including the Air Force Band, Alex Moon and the Launch, Momo and Pompa Mariachis and many more performed live on band stages along the route before Ozomatli took the stage at the Bill Miller Plaza at UTSA Downtown as the Encore Entertainment.
