Atlanta Track Club Creates Special Wave for Participants with Leashed Dogs or Jog Strollers
ATLANTA – November 4, 2022 – Atlanta Track Club wants every member of the family to celebrate health and fitness on Thanksgiving Day, the number one running day of the year. Today, the Club announced it will create dedicated start waves for jog strollers and leashed dogs at the annual Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day 5K. Registration is open now. Those who have already registered for the event can go back into their account to choose to be moved to the jog stroller or dog wave at no additional cost.
“No one wants to make a choice between getting in your annual Turkey Day run or walk or staying home to care for young children and pets,” said Atlanta Track Club CEO Rich Kenah, who runs with his dog Sydney. “We are excited to offer this additional start wave option. And we will ensure adequate space, safety precautions and additional services are in place so that we can safely welcome everyone to a fun and family inclusive Thanksgiving Day morning.”
The jog stroller and dog waves will be the final groups to start the 5K on Thanksgiving Day. The 3.1 mile course starts under the Olympic Ring and Cauldron structure on Hank Aaron Drive, runs through the Summerhill and Grant Park neighborhoods before finishing next to Center Parc Stadium. Water bowls will be available along the course and dog bones will be waiting at the finish line. All dogs will receive a custom bandana. Jog Strollers and dogs will not be allowed in the half marathon, mile or dash races held in conjunction with the 5K. The Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon, 5K, Mile & Dash is an annual tradition for more than 10,000 runners and walkers each year. This year’s participants of the half marathon and 5K will receive a long-sleeve adidas shirt, custom medal and a personal pie at the finish line. The mile and the dash are free to kids 14 and under. Registration is open until 11:59 p.m. on November 23.
